Accessibility Statement
1. Introduction
This accessibility statement applies to the website https://bikeroute.si/. The website and the cycling product Alpina Mediterranean were developed within the Inter Bike III project – Connecting Hinterland Cycle Routes to the Adriabike and Adrioncycletour Paths, co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 cross-border cooperation programme.
We aim to make the website accessible to the widest possible range of users, including those with various forms of disability.
2. Compliance Status
The website is partially compliant with the requirements of the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, Nos. 30/18, 95/21 – ZInfV-A, 189/21 – ZDU-1M, and 18/23 – ZDU-1O; hereinafter: ZDSMA), as some content does not fully meet the accessibility requirements specified by the law. Exceptions and deviations are listed in section 4 of this statement.
In upgrading the website and its content, we follow international guidelines for web content accessibility, in accordance with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 standard, which includes three levels of conformance: A, AA, and AAA. We strive to meet at least level AA.
3. Website Accessibility Features
In terms of accessibility requirements, the website includes various adaptations in the following areas:
3.1. Perceivability
Goal: All information and parts of the website must be presented in ways users can perceive, meaning that content must not be hidden from the senses they rely on.
3.1.1. Time-Based Media
The website does not contain unadjusted time-based media.
3.1.2. Adaptability
Most of the website’s content is adaptable and can be used in different ways without information loss.
However, there are exceptions where implementation is not optimal for blind or visually impaired users relying on screen readers.
3.1.3. Distinguishability
Text redistributes well at higher zoom levels. The website maintains good contrast (at least 4.5:1).
3.2. Operability
Goal: User interface components and navigation must be operable, meaning usable without requiring specific interactions.
3.2.1. Keyboard Accessibility
Keyboard navigation is possible to a certain extent but limited in some parts.
3.2.2. Enough Time to Read Content
There is no unadjusted time-limited content on the site.
3.2.3. Seizures
The website does not include intrusive advertisements or aggressive content that could trigger negative reactions or seizures.
3.2.4. Navigation
The website is logically structured, with a header at the top and a footer at the bottom of the page.
It includes breadcrumb navigation that shows the user’s current location.
There is a secondary navigation layer (embedded third-party content), which is partially accessible via keyboard.
3.3. Understandability
Goal: Information and operation of the user interface must be understandable, meaning users must be able to comprehend the content and how to use the interface.
3.3.1. Readability
The website is readable and understandable.
3.4. Functionality in Different Applications
The website is accessible via different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) and functions similarly across them. It is also accessible on mobile devices (e.g., smartphones and tablets – Android, iPhone, iPad).
4. Deviations and Exceptions
Some published content does not fully meet the accessibility requirements defined in ZDSMA. Examples include:
4.1. Text Alternatives
Some images and video materials lack complete text alternatives. These will be added based on priority.
4.2. Navigation / Keyboard Accessibility
The website includes a side (secondary) navigation layer used to display content from another platform. The provider cannot influence the rendering of this third-party content and therefore cannot guarantee full compliance.
4.3. Forms / Contact Forms
There are embedded forms provided by third-party platforms. In the event of incorrect input, these forms do not adequately highlight erroneous fields. The provider has no influence over the operation of third-party forms and thus cannot guarantee full compliance.
